Tasmanian Leaders, in partnership with the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, invite you and a guest to attend our Launceston Networking Event – Friday 16 August at 5.30 pm.
This event invites you to connect with the Tasmanian Leaders network and to hear from current participant Chris Duffy.
Following school in Southern NSW Chris became an Army Aviation Officer flying helicopters on operations throughout the world including Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Kosovo. On leaving the Army, Chris and his wife Erin moved to Tasmania to run the Branxholm Hotel and to raise their daughter. Within two years they added two sons to the family.
Their youngest son, Jack, was born with cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegia. Chris and his family decided early on that Jacks disability would not stop him from having an adventurous life. With the support of family and friends, Jack has paddled from Launceston to Hobart, hiked the Overland Track, carried the Commonwealth Baton and taken part in numerous running events including 4 marathons.
Chris and Erin (now a teacher come Fire-fighter and Police Officer respectively) started the not for profit organisation Just Like Jack in 2017 to allow other families and children with disabilities to experience adventures and get the most out of life; Just Like Jack.
Chris will share inspiring lessons in leadership by sharing stories from across his diverse career.
Date: Friday 16 August
Where: Peppers Silo Hotel, Kings Wharf Lounge
Time: 5.30 pm - 7.00 pm
